        Stages

You begin your experience in Santiago de Compostela, right at the point where many pilgrims typically conclude their journey. However, in your case, this marks the start of a unique and special route on the Camino de Santiago.

On your first day of this beautiful Camino, you will begin your journey from the iconic Plaza del Obradoiro towards Negreira. This initial stage is quite manageable and straightforward, with mostly flat terrain that takes you through lush forests, leading to one of the most charming villages along the route, Ponte Maceira.

After passing through Ponte Maceira, just a few kilometers further, you’ll reach the end of this stage in Negreira. And so, your journey begins!

The second stage of the Camino to Muxía is the longest, as the endpoint is 33 km from Negreira. Despite the distance, the stage is not overly challenging.

Throughout the route, you’ll pass through several small villages before reaching the final destination in Olveiroa.

This stage marks the end of the inland section before reaching Cee, right on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. At the start of the route, you’ll follow the Xallas River until you reach the charming village of Hospital.

A few kilometers further, keep an eye out for the fork that points to Fisterra and Muxía. At this crucial junction, take the left path to complete your journey for the day in Cee.

In this penultimate stage, the entire route unfolds along A Costa da Morte. Close to Cee, you’ll find the charming village of Corcubión, where it’s recommended to stop and explore its historic old town, recognized as a Cultural Heritage Site.

After visiting Corcubión and continuing along the Atlantic coastline, you’ll approach your long-awaited final destination, Finisterre. It’s important to note that the true endpoint of the stage is at the Finisterre Lighthouse, just 3 kilometers from the town center.

The final stage is also quite long, with around 31 km separating you from your final destination in Muxía. This stage is one of the most beautiful, as the entire route runs close to the sea and through picturesque native forests.

Halfway along, you’ll reach the area of Lires and its Ría, an important spot due to its significant landscape and ornithological value.

A couple of hours later, your goal will be within reach: Muxía. This coastal town is famous for having some of the tastiest fish in Galicia, as well as one of the most important sanctuaries on the Camino de Santiago. The Santuario da Virxe da Barca, located near a cliff, is a must-visit.
